Tom Cruise makes a surprise visit to the Union Station set of the ABC comedy-drama Eli Stone in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
The 46-year-old actor reportedly filmed a cameo for an upcoming episode for the show’s second season. Eli Stone is about a “thirty-something attorney, whose name is the title of the show, begins having larger-than-life visions that compel him to do out-of-the-ordinary things.” Jennifer Aniston was also rumored to have filmed a cameo for Eli Stone, but that rumor was debunked.

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced the DVD release of Eli Stone - The Complete 1st Season. All 13 episodes are included of ABC’s new series about a California lawyer who suddenly has visions - are they fantasy (due to his inoperable brain aneurysm), or prophecy? - and wants to use them to do good. What sounds like it could be a somewhat morbid premise, actually translates into a bright, humorous and quirky show that comes to DVD on September 2nd. And it’s packaged with bonus material:
- Acting on Faith: Eli & George Michael
- Turning a Prophet: The Creation of Eli Stone
- Creating Visions: The Effects of Eli Stone
- Inside the Firm: The Natasha Henstridge Tour
- Deleted Scenes, Bloopers
Jonny Lee Miller (Hackers, Æon Flux film) stars as the title character, and you’ll also see Natasha Henstridge (Species films, The Whole Nine Yards), Victor Garber (Alias, Titanic) and Loretta Devine (Grey’s Anatomy, Boston Public) on the regular cast. As you see in the extras above, singer George Michael - a favorite of the producers - plays a big role in the course of the show, and appears in several episodes.
Other guest stars include Pamela Reed, Katey Sagal, Johnny Pacar, Thomas Cavanagh, James Remar, Mary-Pat Green, Ethan Phillips and Richard Schiff. Cost is $39.99 SRP for a 4-disc set, but you can already pre-order it from Amazon for $27.99. Cost in Canada is CA$44.99 SRP.

‘Eli Stone’
Premiere date: Thursday 12 June at 7.30pm
‘Eli Stone’ is a character-driven dramedy that explores the different worlds of law, justice and spirituality.
Driven by ambition, Eli Stone has built a successful career at a top San Francisco law firm in representing the biggest and richest corporations, where “screwing over the little guy” is common practice.
After experiencing a series of odd hallucinations, including a crooning vision of George Michael, Eli turns to his neurologist brother, Nathan, only to be told there’s nothing wrong with him.
As the visions persist, he’s anxious to find the cause of his delusions and seeks the help of Dr. Chen, a Chinese acupuncturist who specialises in holistic medicine. Though skeptical of his practice, Eli finds Dr. Chen can help him recall important memories from his past.
The cast includes Jonny Lee Miller as Eli Stone, Matt Letscher as Eli’s brother Nathan Stone, Victor Garber as Eli’s imposing boss and future father in law Jordan Wethersby, Natasha Henstridge as Eli’s fiancée Taylor Wethersby, and James Saito as Dr Chen, the Chinese acupuncturist.
The show’s produced by the producers of ‘Brothers & Sisters’.

The upfronts aren’t next until week in New York City, which is where all the official pickups and cancellations are set to be announced, but sources close to ABC have tipped me that while bubble show Eli Stone will get the nod for a season two, another hour-long drama, Women’s Murder Club, will not be returning.
Like I said, not official, but that’s where these two shows currently stand, according to my sources.
Frankly, the news about Club might be for the best. While I adore Angie Harmon and the cast and loved the show in its original state, WMC just hasn’t been the same since show runners Liz Craft and Sarah Fain were let go following the end of the strike. (At which point they were immediately picked up by old pal Joss Whedon to write on Dollhouse, so good for them!)
Sad news about WMC to be sure, but hallelujah about Eli Stone, right? I, for one, adore that series and need to know what happens next between Eli (Jonny Lee Miller) and Maggie Dekker (Julie Gonzalo). Post your cheers and laments, respectively, in the comments
